Compassionate Care for Your Animal

about burkett veterinary services

We believe in treating pets like family.

Our comprehensive approach combines the best of modern veterinary medicine and chiropractic care (VMM) with the time-tested benefits of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). We tailor our treatments to support your pet’s overall well-being, promote healing and return to function, and enhance quality of life, to help your pet thrive in body, mind, and spirit.

Dr. Burkett’s love for animals began early.

meet dr. burkett

At just three years old, she decided that she would become a veterinarian. Surrounded by a collection of pets, from dogs and cats to horses, goats, bottle calves, and chickens—Dr. Burkett’s childhood was shaped by her parents’ shared love of animals. Her father, whose younger years were shaped by his involvement in rodeo, inspired her passion for horses and livestock, while her mother set a compassionate example by consistently rescuing strays and bringing them home.

True to her dream, she attended Clemson University (Go Tigers!) for her undergraduate degree followed by Mississippi State University to earn her veterinary degree before pursuing specialized training in large animal surgery, chiropractic care (VMM), and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). Her career has taken her across the country, from Texas to Wyoming and back to South Carolina, where she has honed her skills in both small and large animal care, sports medicine, and pain management.

As a pet owner herself, Dr. Burkett deeply understands the bond between owners and their animals. She combines cutting-edge techniques with integrative approaches like acupuncture and herbal therapies to ensure pets receive personalized, compassionate care tailored to their needs. Whether helping a senior pet live comfortably, managing post-surgical recovery, or addressing complex cases, Dr. Burkett is dedicated to improving the well-being of every patient she treats.

When she's not working, she’s spending time with her own furry and feathered family—including two dogs, a horse, a pot-bellied pig, a cat, two goats, four donkeys, and a lively mix of chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, turkeys, and even a peacock. You might also find her traveling as a wildlife photographer or furthering her education to better serve her clients and their beloved pets.

Why Choose Complementary and Alternative Forms of Veterinary Medicine (CAM) for Your Pet?

Complementary and Alternative Forms of Veterinary Medicine (CAM) offer a unique and comprehensive approach to pet care that promotes overall health, improves quality of life, and provides solutions beyond conventional methods. By addressing the root causes of health issues and balancing the body’s natural energy and healing capacities, CAM can enhance your pet’s vitality and well-being in ways that often extend to your own life.

For performance animals like high-level equine athletes, canine competitors, to 4-H show animals and bucking bulls, CAM supports optimal function, improved recovery, and enhanced performance. It’s also a compassionate option for managing chronic pain, providing end-of-life care, and offering relief when conventional treatments for conditions like cancer (neoplasia) are unsuccessful or ineffective alone.

Whether you're seeking more comprehensive pain relief, improved athletic performance, or palliative support for a beloved companion, CAM bridges the gap between modern science and ancient wisdom, helping pets and their owners experience a healthier, more harmonious life together.

Take steps toward improving your pet’s well-being.

Thank You!
